California Recreational Boating - Be Happy, Be Safe

As in any sport, California Recreational Boating requires knowledge and a certain level of skills. The knowledge base that you have should include how to operate the vessel in any situation, how to maintain the vessel for maximum performance, and possibly how to do minor maintenance. You should also know what to have on board that would enable you to react to almost any emergency. Your skill base should include safety skills, emergency procedures, and basic operation skills to enjoy California Recreational Boating.

There are items that you should have available on board a vessel used for California recreational boating. These items will help keep you and your vessel or the vessel you are on safe and comfortable. The list of suggested items includes things directly related to the mechanical operation of the vessel, things to aid in the safe and proper navigation of the vessel, emergency items and some practical items for comfort and for safety.

In California Recreational boating some of the items you should for the safe operation of the vessel include a bilge pump or something to bail out the boat if it should be necessary. Also on board should be oars/ or paddles in case of engine problems, an anchor with a chain and line that is the right type for the vessel, and extra fuel, oil, and lubricants.
There should be spare parts, a tool kit, a flashlight, spare light bulbs, and spare navigation lights. There should be compass charts and maps as well.

Vessels used in California recreational boating should have a radio or mobile phone to call for help if needed, a throw rope in a bag, visual distress signals such as flares, and a first aid kit are imperative items to have available. Last but certainly not least you should extra clothes, a sun hat, and sunglasses for sun safety protection. Do not forget to have sun block lotion with you. Life jackets and a lifeboat of some kind maybe an inflatable raft should be available in case you have jump ship.

Vessels engines used in California recreational voting should be kept tuned up, all fluids such as oil need to be monitored, and the oil must be changed according to the boat�s maintenance schedule. All of the battery connections should be tightened and cleaned and the battery power level checked. If the battery is weak it may need to be recharged or replaced. The external engine must be clean and free of grease and oil build up. Check anything that needs to be tightened and repair and replace hoses, nuts, bolts, belts, and screws. A word of caution for maintenance of any vessel but especially those used in California recreational boating. Never use auto parts in your boat, use only marine parts.

The Fun of California Boating Events

Where would you find California boating events listed? Listing of events could be listed in your local newspaper, in boating magazines, at the marina, and/or in postal mail flyers. Boat dealers may also have information on California boating events. They shouldn�t be difficult to find.

Most newspapers and magazines will have listings of community events including California boating events in an event calendar. An event calendar will provide a list of such events as boat shows, races, regattas, and even equipment demonstrations. Events dates are listed and briefly described, the times may be given, and contact information provided. The locations of such as events are listed as are directions sometimes.
Events such as these are held in such cities as Marina Del Rey and Los Angeles among others.

California boating events include dinner cruises, various types of fishing trips, sunset cruises, and/or whale watching cruises. Other boating events include kayaking. Also listed are various races such as regattas (sailboat races). When vessels such as the Queen Elizabeth II arrive in ports of call tours are sometimes allowed. The Tall Ships coming into port is a fantastic sight and so are the America�s Cup Races. They also include corporate charters, wedding charters, and other types of party cruises.

Other California boating events include boat shows, auctions and boating demonstrations. Yachting demonstrations are also held in some places. Harbor tours are offered in some coastal cities. Yacht clubs, marinas, and boat dealers are available in most cities.

You can find California boating events on the internet as well. All you need to go is go to one the search engines and type in california boating events. A list of various websites will appear and you might have to wade through some junk before you find what you are looking for. Other sources for finding California boating events are radio and television advertisements. Many tourism/visitors bureaus of cities will have this information as well or will be able to direct you to it. Going On a Boat Trip? California Boating Destinations

There are multitudes of California Boating Destinations however we will look at four of the most popular. They are the Point Loma Sport Fishing trip, the San Francisco Adventures, Whale Watching Tours and finally California Coastal Exploration. These California Boating Destinations are a good way to have a special date or an outing with your family. Let�s take each of these destinations by themselves and look at what they have to offer.

The first of the California Boating Destinations is The Point Loma Sport Fishing trip has a variety of trips that you can take. There is the famed daily double, which allows you to spend half of the day at Point Loma and half of the day at local areas. Nu lo-an full day free lines trips include fishing for albacore, yellow tail, and other fish. Tru -line offers two half days from August 2nd through August 21. San Francisco Adventures is the second of the California boating destinations that is located in Sausalito, California. This destination offers a variety of services and trips for people. They offer charter yachts and they charter larger sailing boats and motor yachts. They provide various marine events and they will help you plan any special events. They will take you from choosing a theme to planning menus departing dates and even help you decide on ports to visit.

Whale Watching Tours is the third of four California Boating Destinations. The popular destination for these tours is the Farralon Islands that are located in the Gulf of Farralone. It is a marine sanctuary that is home to 37 types of endangered species, 400 types of sea birds, and this is the migrating area for many types of whales and sharks.

The fourth and final of the California boating destinations is California Coast Exploration. There are rough waters in the area that can prevent trips to the Farralon Islands. These trips explore the coves of the Californian coast and goes north past Fort Cronkite, Muir Beach, Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Double Point, Point Reyes National Seashore and Point Reyes Lighthouse.
